Each year, the international TB community gathers together at the UNION World Conference on Lung Health to discuss TB and lung health issues, and share experiences that would contribute towards the improvement of public health. Organized by the International Union Against Tuberculosis and Lung Disease (IUATLD), this year’s event will take place in Paris from October 28 to November 1 at the Palais des Congrès de Paris.
The theme of the Conference this year is “Millennium Development Goals (MDG): what is in store for lung health?” Good health, and consequently good lung health, are integral to any country's economic and social progress. The global goals to improve health, and control tuberculosis in particular, are highly relevant to this year’s discussions. This coming conference ensures that the UNION community remains committed to lung health interventions and public policy in general.
The Global Alliance for TB Drug Development (TB Alliance) will sponsor a symposium on "Advances in the Treatment of TB" on Sunday, October 31, 2004 from 2pm to 4.15pm. This session, chaired by Dr. Ann Ginsberg, Head of Clinical Development at the TB Alliance, will feature speakers from academic, clinical and pharmaceutical sectors, who will review and highlight progress in several projects and specific programs. Admission to this event requires registration to IUATLD Annual Meeting.
Updated information and registration details for the Conference are available at the IUALTD website.
