The Global Alliance for TB Drug Development (the TB Alliance) is supporting the Gordon Research Conference on Tuberculosis Drug Discovery, being held from August 31-September 5, 2003 at Queen's College in Oxford, UK.
Researchers at the forefront of the TB field will meet over five days to discuss the progress that is being made towards the development of new chemotherapeutic agents for the treatment of TB.
In order to foster the participation of researchers from Developing Countries, the TB Alliance is funding the attendance of several exceptional TB scientists from endemic countries at the Gordon Conference.
The following scientists have been selected to present, based on their scientific contribution to the Gordon Conference:
- Prachee Chakaiyar - Centre for DNA Fingerprinting and Diagnostics (Hyderabad, India)
- Mengisteab Bereketeab - University of Cape Town (Cape Town, South Africa)
- Moloko Bopape - Medical Research Council (Pretoria, South Africa)
- Sudhir Sinha - Central Drug Research Institute (Lucknow, India)
The work of these scientists shows evidence of potential innovative breakthroughs in a wide range of TB research areas, and particularly to help advance the global efforts underway to develop a faster-acting, novel drug.
